Mission Trip Update

Many have asked… “So who will go with us on the Mission trip?” in light of my announcement last week….

Do not worry, you will be in incredibly wonderful hands - Rev. Douglass Anne and Rev. Nathan Hill, both who went with our youth last summer on the combined mission trip, will be coordinating the EDCC group this summer. On the trip, the EDCC group will join with other churches from around the area in wonderful service in the Northwest Arkansas/Joplin area.

Be watching soon for a date where Mission trip participants and their families will meet with Douglass Anne and Nathan to talk more about the specifics of this great trip.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

A personal note of thanks and transition

EDCC Youth and Families,

It is with this attitude of thanks that I share with you that I have been called to full-time ministry. My last Sunday with East Dallas CC will be June 3. I will begin as Minister to Families and Children at Northway Christian Church in mid-June. With graduation and ordination on the horizon, I know that I am better prepared for ministry because of the knowledge that has been passed to me in my time here.

I cannot tell you how wonderful my time at EDCC has been. It is the place that helped Nick and I celebrate the birth of Oden, EDCC will always have a special place in our hearts.

I give thanks for the knowledge and guidance that East Dallas has given me over the past three years. God is calling us to new ministry, we are excited and thankful.

Blessings,

Rev. Micah

ATTENTION DISCIPLES HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

Higher Education and Leadership Ministries has important information for you:

FOR ALL DISCIPLES STUDENTS:

1.      To insure that you receive important information about programs and activities useful to you—like the HELM Leadership Fellows program described below—please, if you have not already done so:

(1)   Like the HELM Facebook Page at HELM-Higher Education and Leadership Ministries

(2)   Follow us on Twitter at HELMdisciples

2.      FOR CURRENT DISCIPLES HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS:

Higher Education and Leadership Ministries of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)  invites high school seniors interested in new kinds of Christian leadership to apply to join the 12th class of HELM Leadership Fellows.  Application packets are available now at http://helmdisciples.org/aid/fellows.htm.>

Leadership Fellows experience an ongoing relationship with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) that adds value to their educations through organized opportunities for fellowship, training, and service to the church. With the help of a campus mentor, fellows design and conduct projects on or near their campuses, participate in an annual conference focused on shaping a Church for the future, and receive a $2,000 annual scholarship grant.

Since 2001, over 70 fellows have passed through the program into careers as ministers, college professors, musicians and broadcasters, teachers, activists for peace and the environment and other forms of leadership.  You can meet current and past HELM Leadership Fellows at http://helmdisciples.org/helm/fellows.htm.>

Applicants must be high school seniors entering college in fall, 2012 or community college students transferring to a four-year school.  Fellows may attend any accredited four-year college or university, though students attending Disciples-related schools are particularly encouraged to apply.

The application deadline is April 16, 2012—just three months away!.  For more information contact HELM at helm@helmdisciples.org or 314-991-3000.
